Modeller and DEC Alphastations

I am trying to run Modeller on a DEC alphastation
but the program stops with the message:

Insufficent memory to open Fortran RTL message catalog, message #41.

I have already allocated an additional swap area. Could anybody
with experience on Alphastation suggest a solution?
